South Korean defense officials say the military's indigenous K-11 rifle will have a major improvement by the end of next year, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).
The use of the dual-barrel rifle was suspended last year due to an issue with its shooting control system.
The weapon's upgrade will "turn what has become an ugly duckling into a swan in the shortest time possible," Jung Hong-yong, president of the Agency for Defense Development, said on Wednesday.
