Madrid Angered Over Lebanon Peacekeeping Leadership

The Spanish government is said to be outraged after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Italy to retain control of the U.N. force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) instead of handing control to Spain as planned, reports Haaretz.

The Israeli military has pushed for Italian Maj. Gen. Claudio Graziano to remain in charge of UNIFIL for at least six more months after his term ends in a few weeks.

Israeli officials said there was no problem with Spain's taking command in general....
