France has agreed to enhance its counterterror mission in Africa's Sahel region in cooperation with local countries, reports the Washington Post.
On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron said another 220 French troops would deploy to Operation Barkhane, which is headquartered in Mali.
Macron and the leaders of Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger also agreed to establish a joint command structure, called the Coalition for the Sahel, reported BBC News.
