Lube Oil Cooling Seen As Key Problem For Zumwalt Destroyer's Ills

The Naval Sea Systems Command is still working to repair engineering problems on the U.S. Navy's new stealth destroyer, which broke down twice while sailing from Maine to San Diego, reports USNI News.

The issues appear to be related to the lube oil coolers on the USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000). The coolers prevent the lubrication of rotating shafts from breaking down due to heat and friction, noted naval officials.
