Longstanding Request For Armed Drones Gets Green Light By U.S. State Dept.

The U.S. State Dept. has approved a request by Italy to arm two of its drones, reports the Local (Italy).

The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which oversees foreign arms sales, notified U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday of the possible Foreign Military Sale.

The potential US$129.6 million deal would cover 156 Hellfire missiles, 20 GBU-12 laser-guided bombs, 30 GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munitions and other armaments for two of the Italian air force's MQ-9 Reapers. ...
