Lockheed Tapped For More Aerostats For Use In Afghanistan

The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to produce more than two dozen additional aerostat surveillance systems for operations in Afghanistan, reports the defense firm.
The $184 million contract covers 29 Persistent Threat Detection Systems (PTDS), which have been used for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communications systems in support of force protection and counter-improvised explosive device missions.
