The U.S. Army may dispatch two autonomous unmanned ground vehicles to Afghanistan to see how they perform in a combat area, reports the Armed Forces Journal.
If Lockheed Martin's Squad Mission Support System (SMSS) does well, the service is expected to issue a request for proposals under its urgent-need acquisition program, which could fast-track new large robot vehicles into combat.
