Lockheed, Northrop Share Air Force Targeting Pod Award

The U.S. Air Force has awarded a pair of contracts to Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman for advanced targeting pods.

Lockheed Martin received a 60 percent share of the Advanced Targeting Pod-Sensor Enhancement (ATP-SE) competition with its Sniper pod.

Under the contract, the Pentagon has options to buy up to 670 pods through 2017. If all options are exercised, Lockheed's share would total more than $1 billion.
