The Iraqi Parliament has officially accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi, reports Rudaw (Iraqi Kurdistan).
All 241 lawmakers approved the move on Sunday, two days after Abdul Mahdi announced his intention to resign after weeks of sustained protests.
His announcement came after reports on Friday that security forces had killed at least 45 demonstrators in 24 hours, reported the Washington Post.
