USA—Lawmakers Eye Stronger Defense Ties With Taiwan

The Senate Armed Services Committee has included expanded defense relations with Taiwan as part of its defense budget bill, reports the Taipei Times. The draft bill requires engagement with Taiwanese officials to develop and implement a multiyear plan for the acquisition of appropriate defensive capabilities as well as combined training, exercises and planning activities.
