Lawmakers Approve State Of Emergency In North

Both houses of the Paraguayan legislature have endorsed the declaration of a state of emergency in five northern provinces, where a Marxist insurgent group is active, reports the Wall Street Journal.
The Senate approved the measure on Saturday following the endorsement by the lower house. The decree was declared after four people were killed, allegedly by the Paraguayan People's Army (EPP) militant group.
