With Launch Of Satellite, Global Data-Relay System Moves Forward

The multinational Airbus Group aerospace corporation is moving ahead with its project to set up a worldwide, high-speed data-relay system that could eventually use lasers to distribute images and other data quickly from satellites and unmanned vehicles, reports the Wall Street Journal Europe.

On Saturday, the Eutelsat 9B data-communications satellite was launched from the Baikonur facility in Kazakhstan.
