Latest Reunification Talks End With Participants Yelling

A week of talks in Switzerland to reunify the divided island of Cyprus have collapsed, reports the BBC.

The talks were called off early Friday after negotiations became deadlocked.

Cyprus was split in 1974 following a Greek-backed coup and a subsequent Turkish invasion. A round of U.N.-backed talks in Switzerland began in January aimed at reuniting the island's Greek and Turkish communities. The most recent round, held in the Swiss Alps, began on June 28.
