The final 28 pounds of Russian-origin highly enriched uranium has been removed from Serbia, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) reports.
The spent fuel was removed from the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences, NNSA officials said.
About 3,000 Serbian police were involved in the operations to take the material to Russia by road, rail, ship and rail again to Mayak, reported the BBC.
