The U.S. Air Force has consolidated two bases in Texas to form Joint Base San Antonio, reports the Air Force News Service.
Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base were consolidated to form the new installation.
Base support functions have been combined under the 502nd Air Base Wing at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, as mandated by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
