L3Harris Successfully Tests Stage Two Rocket Motor for Next Generation Interceptor

On Aug. 10, 2026, L3Harris Technologies announced it completed a successful full-duration hot-fire test of its stage two solid rocket motor for the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI). Engineers evaluated the system in a simulated high-altitude vacuum environment to replicate the extreme conditions of Earth's upper atmosphere.

L3Harris is supplying stage one and two solid rocket motors alongside specialized Attitude Control Systems and Divert and Attitude Control Systems for precision maneuvering. The production relies on a distributed manufacturing footprint across facilities in Alabama, Arkansas, California, and Virginia.
