North Korea has elected a new nominal head of state as part of a broader political shakeup designed to consolidate Kim Jong Un's hold on power, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).  In a major party meeting on Thursday, Choe Ryong Hae was elected as the constitutional head of state and assumed the second-highest position in the State Affairs Commission, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Friday.
