Sudan plans to build a nuclear reactor by 2020, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The state news agency SUNA said the plant will be used for peaceful purposes.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said it would send representatives to Sudan on Monday to discuss the potential program.
Khartoum has indicated it wants a nuclear reactor for "research purposes." Large parts of the country do not have regular electricity.
