South Korea has formally kicked off its indigenous fighter jet program, reports the JoongAng Daily (Seoul).
On Jan. 21, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration laid out a detailed timeline for the project, working with Korea Aerospace Industries.
KAI will build the jet at its headquarters in Sacheon.
Seoul has allocated US$6.67 billion for the development of the KF-X and another US$7.9 billion for production.
