Kenyan Special Forces, specifically the 40th Ranger Regiment, are now equipped with the French-made PGM 338 sniper rifle. First seen in use during training in April 2021, this rifle is designed for long-range engagements up to 1200 meters or more, using the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge. The PGM 338, also known as the PGM Mini-Hecate .338, bridges the gap between smaller anti-personnel sniper rifles and larger, less portable anti-material rifles like the .50 BMG. It features a bolt-action design, a detachable 10-round magazine, and an adjustable folding stock. The rifle, produced by PGM Précision of France, competes with other high-end sniper rifles like the Accuracy International Arctic Warfare and Sako TRG.
