President Obama has nominated an Air Force general as the next chief of U.S. Strategic Command, the Air Force Times reports.
If confirmed, Gen. Robert Kehler will take over from Air Force Gen. Kevin Chilton at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., on Dec. 1.
Kehler, the current head of Air Force Space Command, served as the deputy commander of Strategic Command from 2005 to 2007.
Strategic Command operates the U.S. nuclear arsenal and its dedicated cyber warfare personnel.
