Construction of a second batch of Braunschweig-class corvettes is set to begin later this month, reports defence-aerospace.com.
German shipbuilder Lurssen Werft is scheduled to lay the keel for the Cologne on April 25 during a ceremony at its Peene shipyard in Wolgast, said a German navy release on Thursday.
The Cologne is the first of five Braunschweig-class corvettes ordered in 2017. It will be followed by the Emden, Karlsruhe, Augsburg and Lubeck.
