The keel has been laid at the Damen Schelde shipbuilding facility in the Netherlands for the first of four new patrol vessels for the Dutch navy, reports defense-aerospace.com.
The Holland is scheduled to be christened in January 2010 and commissioned in May 2011.
Construction of the remaining ships in the class -- named Zeeland, Friesland and Groningen -- is scheduled to begin in September 2009, October 2009 and April 2010, respectively.
