Keel About To Be Laid For Another High-Speed Vessel

Austal USA, based in Mobile, Ala., says it has begun final assembly of the third Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) for the U.S. Navy.

The first of 43 construction modules has been transported from the manufacturing facility and erected in the final assembly bay, according to an Austal release.

Construction of the ship began in October and a keel-laying ceremony is scheduled for May 3.

The Navy has ordered nine of a planned 10 JHSVs.
