The U.S. Air Force’s new aerial tanker has formally begun the initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) phase of development, reports Air Force magazine.
The service announced the transition on Oct. 22.
The testing will evaluate the KC-46’s effectiveness, suitability and mission capability while conducting its primary missions of aerial refueling, cargo/passenger transport and aeromedical operations.
