Kartapolov Moves Up To Command Western Military District

The Western Military District in Russia has a new commander, reports Interfax-AVN.
Col. Gen. Andrey Kartapolov assumed command on Monday in St. Petersburg.
"Andrey Valeryevich has proved himself a competent military chief with broad tactical thinking. The successful operations by our group in Syria are in part his merit," said Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during the change-of-command ceremony.
