Canadian forces have turned over responsibility for Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan to U.S. troops, reports the Postmedia News.
Troops from Canada are now in charge of the Panjwaii and Dand districts of Kandahar province. The 1 Royal Canadian Regiment patrols Panjwaii and a squadron from the U.S. 10th Mountain Division is responsible for Dand, under Canadian command.
The Zhari and Arghandab districts were transferred on June 28 to the U.S. 101st Airborne Division.
