Russia and China have agreed to develop a heavy-lift helicopter together, says a Russian trade official, as reported by RIA Novosti.
The new helicopter will likely be based on the Mi-26, said Denis Manturov, a deputy industry and trade minister.
Both parties are discussing China's needs for the aircraft since the helicopter will be geared toward the Chinese market, he said. Russia and China will also jointly manufacture aircraft engines.
