Italian Shipbuilder To Supply New Offshore Patrol Vessel

The Armed Forces of Malta has awarded Italian shipbuilder Cantiere Navale Vittoria a contract for a new offshore patrol vessel.
The US$39 million (35 million euro) contract was signed on Oct. 10, said a military release on Jan. 17.
The new OPV, dubbed the P71, will displace about 1,800 tons and have a top speed of more than 20 knots.
