The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for Saturday's car bomb attack on the Italian consulate in Cairo, reports UPI.
Authorities said that a bomb placed underneath a deserted car outside the consulate was detonated.
The number of casualties reported varied. Government officials told AFP that one civilian was killed and nine were injured, including passersby and police.
