Islamic State militants have counterattacked in the eastern part of Syria's Raqqa province, killing at least 34 Syrian troops and allied fighters, says a monitoring group, as reported by Agence France-Presse.
Syrian and allied troops have been trying to advance in Raqqa province to reach neighboring Deir Ezzor, which is almost completely controlled by ISIS. Earlier this month, the pro-government forces reached the outskirts of Madan, the last ISIS-held town before Deir Ezzor. ...
