At least nine ISIS members and 23 fighters from the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been killed in fighting near the Euphrates River valley, reports Agence France-Presse.
Fighting broke out on Sunday and lasted into Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a U.K.-based watchdog group, said on Tuesday.
Poor weather limited visibility in the area, which may have emboldened the terrorists, said the observatory.
