ISIS Launches Offensive Against Kirkuk; Kurdish General Among Those Killed

A Top Kurdish commander and five peshmerga fighters have been killed in an Islamic State attack in Kirkuk province in northern Iraq, reports Agence France-Presse.
The Islamic State (ISIS) launched an assault on Friday north and south of the city of Kirkuk. The city is under the control of the Kurdish regional government.
Brig. Gen. Shirko Rauf was killed along with five members of the Kurdish peshmerga, according to locals, including police. Another 46 were reported wounded. ...
