The British Ministry of Defense says that 5,000 man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) found in Libya have been secured and destroyed, reports Defense News.
A multinational team of weapons experts was assigned to find and destroy the weapons after the fall of the Qaddafi regime last year.
The U.S. government estimated that Qaddafi had about 20,000 MANPADS. Thousands were believed destroyed during the conflict.
