Afghan insurgents have begun to adapt to U.S. airstrikes, learning to attack and scatter before they can be hit, USA Today reports, citing military officials and analysts.
Insurgents "have a pretty good idea of how long it takes for close-air support to arrive," said a Pentagon spokesman.
The militants fight for until they think the aircraft will arrive on the scene, he said.
