The Defense Ministry has finished an initial section of the security fence that is expected to guard Israel's border with Egypt in the Sinai, reports the Jerusalem Post.
By the end of the year, the fence is scheduled to cover 60 miles (100 km) of the 150-mile (240-km) border, defense officials said.
Initial surveying and leveling of land began in November and the entire fence is now scheduled to be completed by mid-2012, about six months earlier than originally planned. ...
