Industry Seen Carrying Near-Term R&D Load For SOCOM

A top official from the U.S. Special Operations Command says SOCOM hopes to increase its research-and-development (R&D) funding over the long run despite anticipated near-term budget reductions, reports Defense News.
In the meantime, the command will rely more on self-funding by industry for R&D of military equipment and weapons, according to a SOCOM acquisition official.
