As Indictments Escalate, Lawyers Seek Decriminalization Of 'Light Drug' Use

There has been a dramatic increase in drug offenses among Israeli troops, according to a report by the military defense attorneys' corps cited by Haaretz.
The report, published Sunday, said there were 629 indictments related to illegal drugs in 2014, about a 50 percent increase from the 416 in 2013.
Most of the indictments are related to marijuana or drug substitutes, said the report.
The attorneys back a policy change toward troops who use "light drugs" while on leave....
