The Japanese government is mulling an independent maritime security operation around the Strait of Hormuz, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Tokyo).
On Friday, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe instructed the foreign and defense ministries to study an independent naval mission near the Strait of Hormuz during a meeting of the National Security Council.
