New National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien plans to reduce the size of National Security Council (NSC) and limit its role, reports Reuters.
O'Brien said on Thursday that he intended to increase inter-agency coordination and return the NSC to its original role of coordinating, rather than directing, foreign policy.
The NSC should ensure that the president has options, rather than direct foreign policy, he said.
