Improved Radar Leads To Greater Role For Army Air Defense Groups

The army's air defense groups in Russia's Central Military District have just assumed responsibility for the airspace in 29 regions, reports Interfax-AVN.
The six command posts in the district took the lead role on Friday, said a military spokesman. The posts are located in Novosibirsk, Samara, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Biisk and Yekaterinburg.
These units previously had an airspace support role in the region.
