Nigerian security officials say they have seized 52 Kalashnikov assault rifles and tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition apparently bound for Jos, the capital of Plateau State, reports the Nigerian Bulletin.
That region has been the center of ethnic and religious strife over the last several years.
Five men were arrested in connection with the illegal transport of the weapons over the border with Chad and into Borno state, said security officials.
