Government officials say Venezuelan security forces have destroyed dozens of illegal airstrips controlled by drug-traffickers, reports Prensa Latina (Cuba).
Thirty-six airstrips were reportedly eliminated in Paure state near the Colombian border. Eleven aircraft, six vehicles and 16 storage facilities and hangars were also destroyed last month during Operation Checkmate, said Interior Minister Tareck El Aissami.
