Official Pentagon figures reveal that insurgents in Iraq killed at least 21,000 civilians from 2005 to 2010 with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), USA Today reports.
Such devices include roadside bombs, car bombs and suicide bombers.
The statistics shows that casualties peaked in 2007 with 7,295 fatalities, with another 21,970 wounded. In 2010, IEDs killed 1,327 Iraqi civilians and wounded 5,740 people.
