IED Blast Kills Police In Coastal Region; Al-Shabaab Claims Responsibility

A bomb explosion in eastern Kenya has killed five policemen, say police and local officials cited by Reuters.

Other sources said at least six police were killed and three injured.

On Tuesday, an improvised explosive device was detonated in the coastal county of Lamu as a truck passed with 10 administrative police officers, said a regional official.

The Somalia-based Al-Shabaab militant group claimed responsibility, saying that eight Kenyan soldiers were killed.
