President Obama has nominated Air Force Gen. John Hyten to serve as the next head of the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., reports the Omaha World-Herald (Neb.).
Defense Secretary Ash Carter said in a Sept. 9 statement that Hyten is “the perfect choice” for the post, noted Space News.
If confirmed, Hyten would replace Adm. Cecil Haney later this year. The Air Force general currently heads the Air Force Space Command in Colorado Springs, Colo. ...
