Canadian Defense Minister Peter MacKay said a navy frigate is being sent to join international anti-piracy operations in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, reports the Canadian Press.
HMCS Fredericton (FFH-337) is scheduled to leave shortly on a six-month deployment with Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150).
The multinational task force has been operating off the Horn of Africa protecting merchant vessels from Somali pirates.
