HII Reaches Preliminary Acceptance of CVN 79 for U.S. Navy

HII announced on Sept. 29, 2026, that Newport News Shipbuilding reached preliminary acceptance of the JOHN F. KENNEDY (CVN 79), the final milestone before the U.S. Navy officially accepts it.

After completing its acceptance trials in August, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier departed Newport News Shipbuilding for Naval Station Norfolk to prepare for fleet integration.
