Sweden says it will boost its defense spending to counter the threat posed by Russia, reports Agence France-Presse.
On Thursday, Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist told reporters that the government would allocate an addition US$3 billion for defense from 2021 to 2025.
That represents an increase of about 40 percent from current levels.
Any increase in spending would need parliamentary approval.
