Mozambique's government has announced that the once war-torn country is now completely mine-free, reports the Washington Post.
The last known mine was destroyed this month at the Pungue Bridge in the central province of Sofala.
About 171,000 mines were removed over more than two decades, with the assistance of more than 1,600 workers, according to the U.K.-based Halo Trust, the charity that led the mine-removal effort.
